+$3.3 million in public housing investment will provide hundreds of new jobs.
Townsville on the north-eastern coast of Queensland is set to receive a $3.3 million boost following funding approval for a series of affordable living style apartments. The projects, which are part of the state government’s $38.8 million public housing investment, will provide hundreds of new construction jobs and inject a substantial investment into the local community
The housing projects will be completed by local contractors and will create new opportunities for local trades, including carpenters, form workers, concreters, block layers, plumbers, electricians and roofers, to name a few. The developments will also provide housing for future residents in the area and meet the demand for open space living.
“We know that by investing in housing, we are also investing in our communities, and this funding is expected to create valuable jobs for local tradies and training opportunities for apprentices during construction,” said Minister Coralee O’Rourke.
