In Construction

Minister for Main Roads and Road Safety, Mark Bailey, recently announced the Queensland government had finalised plans for construction to begin on a $560 million road project.

Construction of the Mackay Ring Road was identified as a priority project and major construction work is scheduled to commence in 2017; which should take around three years to complete.

Mackay has historically experienced strong population growth and this expected to continue over the next two decades. By 2031, it is anticipated that the population will increase by over 50,000, resulting in a forecasted population of over 180,000 people.

The Mackay Ring Road project is the largest project ever undertaken by the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads. Due to the rapid population growth and economic development, upgrades are needed to address congestion levels and safety issues.

Find professionals now and in the future

“The project will support an average of 603 jobs during construction and it will also boost local industry by allowing greater access to the Mackay Port,” said Member for Mackay Julieanne Gilbert.

At Design and Construct, we have seen a rise in the demand for construction professionals throughout Australia in all disciplines. We continue to address this need by helping candidates make the transition into a new workplace, and by assisting companies to find the right people at the right time.
